Burna Boy now joins the growing list of Nigerians like Seun Kuti, Wizkid, Kah-lo and King Sunny Ade who have previously been nominated for the Grammys.
The Recording Academy, popularly known as the Grammy Awards just announced the shortlist of nominees for the 62nd Grammy Awards next year and Burna Boy got nominated in the World Music’ Category for his African Giant Album.
In the same category are Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet and Angelique Kidjo with Celia.
It has been a great year For Burna Boy, He was among a handful of big-name internatioal artists to play Coachella 2019, made his “Jimmy Kimmel“Live debut and released his highly anticipated album, African giant. He won the Best International act at the BET awards and has been touring all year.
African giants brings positive vibes and some great collaborations, including Jamaican dancehall artist Serani, Ghanian songwriter/rapper M.anifest, Beninese Singer/Songwriter Angelique kidjo and so many other great artists.
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for January 26,2020, at the staples center in Los Angeles . Alicia keys will be host the ceremony having hosted the previous year ceremony as well.
