AFROPUNK organisers have announced that the Nigerian artist will no longer be performing at this year’s festival which is set to take place on 30 and 31 December at Constitution Hill, Braamfontein Joburg.
In a brief statement that they posted on Twitter, they express “Now isn’t the right time for him to come
“After a joint discussion with Burna Boy’s team, we are announcing that he will no longer be part of Joburg’s 2019 lineup. We’ve agreed that now isn’t the right time for him to come. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to our community.
“We are dedicated to bringing you an unforgettable #AFROPUNKJoburg 2019 and we’re so excited to see amazing performances from artists like Solange, Miguel, NAO, Busiswa, Sho Madjozi, Kwani Experience and more,” said Afropunk in a statement.
Afropunk 2019 headliners include Solange, Nao, Migule, Masego, Goldlink, Busiswa, Sho Madjozi, Urban Village, Sjava, Zoe Modida, Blinky Bill, Morena Leraba, among others.
The music and lifestyle festival takes place at the Constitution Hill, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, on Monday, December 31, and Tuesday, December 31.
